        What is Anesthesia?

 

Anesthesia will induce a temporary loss of feeling or sensation to our patients to help minimize pain and discomfort. There are several types of anesthesia that can be used; General, Local, Regional and Epidural. The type of anesthesia chosen will vary based on our patients individual needs.

   GENERAL ANESTHESIA    REGIONAL ANESTHESIA
   Total unconscious state, possible    Temporary loss of feeling and / or
   placement of tube into windpipe.    movement of a limb.

SPINAL OR EPIDURAL ANESTHESIA- Temporary decreased or loss of feeling and / or movement to the lower part of the body.

MONITORED ANESTHESIA CARE WITH SEDATION - Reduced anxiety and pain, partial or total amnesia.

MAJOR / MINOR NERVE BLOCK WITH OR WITHOUT SEDATION - Temporary loss of feeling and / or movement of a specific limb or area.
